A New President Takes the Helm in Mexico

Sommelier Miguel Ángel Cooley has been announced as the new president of the Asociación de Sommeliers Mexicanos (ASM). Gloutonnerie, a restaurant owned by Cooley in the Polanco district of Mexico City, hosted his official introduction ceremony. Cooley’s term will run until 2021, during which time he will be tasked with furthering Mexico’s development as a top destination for fine sommellerie.

Cooley is assuming his new office from outgoing president Marcos Flores, a former Best Sommelier of Mexico who has held the leadership role since 2016. Cooley will be joined in the new executive committee by Vice President Georgina Estrada, Chairman of the Supervisory Board Luis Cárdenas, Director of Communications and PR Gabriel Linares, Marketing and Partnerships Director Michelle Carlín and Secretary General/Treasurer Cynthya Mejía.
