The OIV Prize is one of the most prestigious in the wine world, awarded to print and digital books that reset the gold standard for reference. Receiving it twice is virtually an impossibility.
And yet that is precisely what our great friend Paul Brunet has achieved. Long a familiar face at ASI as a competitor — bronze medal at the Best Sommelier of the World competition in 1969 — and a member of the Technical Committee for the Ruinart Trophy, his book “La Sommellerie de Référence / Le Vin et les Vins au Restaurant” is already the unofficial bible for all French-speaking sommeliers. With this recognition by OIV, its stature is only likely to grow.
Hopefully this will inspire his publishing house to bring it into other languages as well, at least English, so that Brunet’s wisdom can help sommeliers the world over!
