The Canadian Association of Professionals Sommeliers (CAPS) is pleased to announce it will be hosting its national sommelier competition October 17-19 in the beautiful Okanagan Valley in British Columbia. Of the announcement, CAPS National President Lesley Brown says “it’s been a difficult past couple of years, because of the pandemic. With vaccinations rates ever increasing in Canada, CAPS is thrilled to announce our best sommeliers will be coming together for a spirited competition in the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia.” CAPS Best Sommelier of Canada contest brings together competitors from each of its five regional chapters (Atlantic Canada, Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba and British Columbia). The contestants will be put through a rigorous examination process, with the technical team led by well-known local wine authority and educator DJ Kearney and judges including Bruce Wallner MS, Michelle Bouffard (Tasting Climate Change) and Veronique Rivest. Post competition judges and guests will explore the Okanagan Valley as part of Wine BC BOOTCAMP.
