Barry Schofield was nominated as the new chairman of the South African Sommelier Association at the January General Assembly, replacing Higgo Jacobs, who stepped down after three years as chairman. Board members David Clarke and Tinashe Nyamodoku also stepped down, while Esme Groenewald, Dickson Motale and Wayve Kolevsohn came on board as new members of the board. The other members are vice-chair Spender Fondaumiere, Joakim Blackadder Immenkamp, and Xolani Mancotywa. Higgo Jacobs will continue to collaborate with ASI as a member of the By-Laws Committee. The South African association also hosted the ASI Technical Committee in January.
