Several of the world’s best sommeliers were present at Vinexpo, held in Bordeaux earlier in May, to share their knowledge and challenge wine professionals in various ways. Olivier Poussier, Best Sommelier of the World 2000, led a master class on Indigenous Grape Varieties of the World, while Marc Almert, the 2019 Best Sommelier of the World, headed the classic Vinexpo Challenge, where dozens and dozens of wine experts tried to identify 5 white wines and 5 red wines chosen by the champion.
In a more competitive fashion, ASI president Andrés Rosberg hosted the Battle of the new generation best sommeliers with Nina Højgaard Jensen (ASI Best Sommelier of the World 2019 – 2nd Place), Piotr Pietras (ASI Best Sommelier of the World 2019 – 6th Place) & Martynas Pravilonis (ASI Best Sommelier of the World 2019 – 4th Place), where each of these top somms championed their favourite white and red grapes and tried to convince the audience of their merits.
ASI is very proud to count Vinexpo, one of the wine world’s most important events, as one of its official partners.
