ASI Congratulates Jacques Orhon, Jean-Vincent Ridon and Philippe Faure-Brac awarded by OIV

4 Oct 2021

The OIV Award is a distinction set out in the OIV Rules of Procedure, granted each year by an international Jury composed of eminent personalities in the viti/vinicultural world who represent the OIV Member Countries. The Jury thus recognizes, with the OIV Award, publications of reference in each of the 11 categories open to competition. Among the selected this year are three sommeliers who need little introduction. ASI would like to congratulation Jacques Orhon for being recognized for his book “Les Fruits de l’Exil”, Jean-Vincent Ridon for his contribution titled “Passion for Pairing” and ASI 1992 Best Sommelier of the World Philippe Faure-Brac for “Accords Vins & Mets.” Of the award Faure-Brac says “I am incredibly happy and proud to share with you this OIV 2021 award for my book on food and wine pairing. It truly is a great honour and I warmly thank all the judges.” As twist of fate Jean-Vincent Ridon says “ironically my book is dedicated to Philippe for being an inspiration in my career as he has been the first Best Sommelier of the World to really make his crown a business model, with his own restaurant, his consulting, his numerous books, along with his television and radio shows.”
