Blanco Granito 2019, is the first wine from our small Galician winery Pazo Torre Penelas, it is also the first wine to be vinified and aged in granite tanks, the predominant and almost exclusive rock in the Rías Baixas DO. An Albariño grown entirely within the walls of the pazo which is six hectares in size. The vines are between 25 and 40 yrs of old, and are planted on granite soils with a sandy texture.
Our obsession has been to transfer to wine the expression of the vineyard, and especially of the granite soil typical of the Rías Baixas. Combining it also with ancestral viticulture, when wine and stone went hand in hand because they were made in carved presses directly on the rock. The granite enhances the aromas of the wine, transfers minerality and a sensation of salinity to it. The ovoid shape of the tanks allows the natural and continuous movement of the wine and keeps the lees in suspension, which gives it smoothness and volume on the palate.
The work of the winemaker Víctor Cortizo, Blanco Granito 2019 is a unique wine that surprises with its power, salinity and marked acidity. A wine that is the result of our passion for innovation and respect for the terroir and history, with which we want to commemorate the splendor of the Pazo Torre Penelas, listed as historical heritage, and its deep-rooted wine-growing vocation.
