Wines of Argentina

25 Apr 2020

Grab friends and a glass – it’s World Malbec Day! Recognized every year on April 17, World Malbec Day transcends a mere date on the calendar. It’s an annual homage to #MalbecArgentino in honor of a wine with Argentine authenticity and global success.

Watch out dates, you may want to mention that MWD is on April 17th, and that Argentina celebrates it during the whole month, as we’re publishing after the date!

Though Malbec originated in Europe, the grape emigrated to South America in the 19th century, finding a permanent home in Argentina. Today, the country accounts for 70% of the world’s Malbec vineyards, where the country’s arid, warm climate allows Malbec to thrive from the northernmost vineyards in Jujuy to the southernmost in Chubut, the same distance as between Edinburgh and Marrakech.

Today, Mendoza, San Juan, and Salta are considered the three main growing regions, though most consumers know the styles of Malbec from Mendoza. Malbec has become synonymous with this beautiful, richly cultured country, and Argentina has become synonymous with this lush, fruity wine.

So, order a bottle of Malbec and celebrate World Malbec Day online. Toast to health and prosperity. Toast to a wine that unites. Cheers to #MalbecArgentino.
